June MyGlam Bag Review

I had been so excited for the June MyGlam bag since I hadn't really seen any of the sneek peek photos they had been posting via instagram or facebook. So here is what we got this month as well as this month's bag. The photo I've posted is from a forum that talks about each month's bag located here.

The only thing in this bag that was of any real interest to me is the NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors lipstick. Mine is in the shade Eucalyptus. It looks really pretty in the tube as well as on my lips. It is a vibrant fuchsia color that is almost on tone with my hair color. I really like the color as well as the feel. It isn't too slick or greasy on my lips. I also like that it doesn't seem to have a scent. I really like the vanilla scent that MAC uses in their lip products and I've found over time that other lip products with scents, particularly lipsticks, tend to turn me off when they aren't that same scent. So this NYX lipstick is right on point and may even end up in my bag for day to day because it is so gorgeous!I will try the moisturizer and the styling cream as time permits, but I'm not a fan of Philosophy products in general, so I won't hold my breath on that one. I hope it will be better than some of the other moisturizers I've tried since it is a gel cream forumula. The liquid liner in the bag is definitely subpar to my standards. I am not a fan of any of the liquid liner pens I've tried so far, and this is actually the worst of the bunch. The liner pen by Mar Bella is runny, bleeds on application, and is no where near being opaque.

Now on to this month's MyGlam bag itself. I have only received one bag that didn't smell TERRIBLE since joining MyGlam and that one was my first bag back in February. Usually the bags smell of some foul plastic but this month's stench reached a new low. This month's bag smells like rotten fish or hair glue, either way you categorize it, IT STINKS! Additionally, the bag is so flimsy and the magnetic clasp on it seems two steps away from being a brad in fabric.

Over all, I think this month's bag is halfway decent. Unfortunately I don't forsee any other uses for this bag and it will probably get trashed. As for the products, I think that MyGlam did a pretty good job with the products included in this months bag with their only 100% miss for me being the eyeliner pen. What do you think of this month's bag? Are you hoping to sign up for MyGlam or do you use other subscription based services? Let me know what you all think!

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor Review

Hey guys!

I have another product review here for you on the Gillette Venus & Olay razor that I received in February in my Influenster Love VoxBox. The razor is the perfect combination of Venus and Olay! The Venus razor has 5 excellent blades and the Olay strips make my legs feel so soft and silky as I shave and after I shave! The handle has a great grip on it as well. They are available now at your local grocery stores, drug stores, and one stop shops like Wal-Mart and Target. Replacement cartridges that come in packs of three can be found for $14.99-$19.49 and a starter pack of one refillable razor and one cartridge can be purchased for $8.99-$10.99. If you've never tried a Venus razor, I strongly suggest that you try the newest addition to the Venus like of the Venus & Olay razor! You can find more product details and specifications at http://www.gillettevenus.com .

TruvĂa® natural sweetener Product Review

So a couple of weeks ago I received a Love VoxBox from Influenster and I got a product in my box that I absolutely adore within it. I got a Truvia  sample and coupon in my box. Truvia is fantastic! It is about the same consistency of granulated sugar and doesn't have a forced or fake tasting sweetness to it. Truvia really is an ideal sweetener to me. I use it daily for my coffee. The packets that were provided from Truvia through my Love VoxBox were perfect for me to keep in a stash for myself away from the sugar that my husband sometimes uses. I also will be using the coupon that was enclosed within the samples this weekend when I do my grocery shopping.

Cool Toned Shadows

Today I finally got back into playing with some makeup. I decided to delve into something where I could make a beautiful purple liner out of Feline Fatal from Glamour Doll Eyes and Foil Me! from Glamour Doll Eyes. This is what I came up with.

Hope you all enjoy! I'm currently uploading a video tutorial for the look as well. I was feeling really froggy today I guess. Heres a list of what eye products I used as well:

Angel Wings e/s-GDE
Schizophrenic e/s- GDE
Feline Fatal e/s-GDE
Foil Me-GDE
Recruit e/s-GDE
The Falsies mascara-Maybelline
Zoomlash in Zoomblack-MAC

My first primer

If you've seen a YouTube video, you've heard of eyeshadow primer. I gaurantee it! Everyone who does YouTube videos pretty much has realized how amazing primer is and how much it helps to keep your shadows in place.

My very first one was Benefit's F.Y. Eye. It was amazing! It kept my shadow in place, was lightweight, and helped conceal some of the veins in the lids of my eyes.  I still have a TINY  bit left in a jar, and I use it sparingly. It is a very mousse like consistency and I typically use my ring finger to apply it to my lid. I'm not 100% why Benefit decided to discontinue this primer, but it was fantastic in it's day. I have recently been testing out a primer that is very simliar to this and I hope that it comes to be a product with the line that is testing it, because I'm sure it would be a big hit with F.Y. Eye loves all around.

What was your first primer? What are you using now? What is your favorite primer? Let me know!

Welcome

Hello there. I see you've stumbled upon my blog. I decided that I've not been in the mood lately as much to post on my YouTube Channel, so I thought I would start a beauty blog. I hope to start posting reviews, experiences, and general beauty information here on the blog.

My name is Piper and I am a 24 (almost 25) year old Makeup Artist and aspiring Cosmetologist. I've signed up to test for licensing in cosmetology and should be able to do that by the end of September. I realized a few years ago that my growing passion for makeup was something that wasn't going to just go away. I started out purchasing a couple of things from MAC. My first "high end" makeup item that I purchased was for Halloween 2008. Carbon e/s from MAC. I bought it because it was what I had heard to be THE BEST matte black eyeshadow on the market. At the time, I had no clue what was really going on with makeup. I was just getting into watching videos about it on YouTube and talking with the makeup counter girls that I worked alongside at Macy's. Carbon was just a jumping off point for the madness that would follow. Over the past few years I have complied quite an array of makeup and have even found myself working as a freelance makeup artist.

About a year after falling in love with makeup and spending hours of my time watching various gurus and video makers on YouTube I took the plunge and decided to attend Cosmetology school. It had been a long time coming. I had contemplated it before, but wasn't sure if that was what I wanted to do with myself. After falling in love with cosmetics, I realized that making people feel better about themselves was what I wanted to do with my life.

School took me longer to complete than it should have. I've never been much for attending classes, to include my time at Valdosta State University as well as Cosmo school. So instead of the 11-12 months it should have taken me, I was there for about 16 months. I did take a few breaks from school, but in the end, I'm glad it took me as long to complete as it did. The things that I learned about different hair, makeup, and skin in that time is priceless. The people I met on this road the past few years have been good, bad, ugly, and beautiful. And again, I wouldn't trade those experiences for all the money in the world. I wouldn't be who I am and what I am right here, right now if it weren't for them.

So here I am. Beginning a blog about my past experiences as well as experiences to come within the world of beauty as well as reviews and little tidbits of various beauty related information. You may come to realize you don't like my opinions. You may love this blog. Who knows what will come of it all, but I hope to give someone out there a glimpse into what this life in the makeup and cosmetology world is like for me.
